This experience is not to be missed

Every single person we met made us feel welcome and cared for. Dinner was delicious, s'mores were fun and we loved the storytelling, music and the star gazing. The property is amazing and I really appreciate that this is a family-run operation. I so appreciated that the food was cooked by family and that every little element had been carefully thought out. I will say that regardless of what your GPS says, it can take a little longer to get there than you think. The roads leading to the ranch are windy, some are steep and narrow and even a small traffic event can cause a big delay. Allow a little extra time so that you aren't feeling rushed. You will see a part of Hawaii you may never have dreamed existed. It was a fantastic experience!

Paniolo BBQ a Unique Experience!

We enjoyed the evening so much! It felt like a really unique experience, something quite different than another restaurant night! The drive up the mountain to the ranch was beautiful and the road was good. The ranch pavilion where the dinner was held overlooked gorgeous land and the views were amazing. We were gathered and told the history of the ranch and there were other things to do before dinner (roping, cornhole, museum, walking around). Water and sodas were self-serve/included and wine and beer from the cash bar were $4. Dinner was served buffet-style and was plentiful and delicious. Live music and dancing also! It was a great evening!

Special Evening

After reading many meh reviews on the luaus on the island, I stumbled across this option for evening entertainment and decided to go for it. It was absolutely wonderful. The setting and the sunset over the hills was absolutely stunning. The hosts were incredibly friendly. The food was delicious and plentiful. The evening activities kept you entertained while still giving you options to choose what you would like to do as well to give you space if you would just like to walk around. Only improvement would be that the music played during dinner was too loud and made conversation with our new friends at our table difficult.

Such a fun and unique experience on the big island!

The food is amazing, I had prime rib, bbq chicken, and all the country fixins you'd want. There were so many activities to do like Cornhole, horse shoes, roping, s'mores, star gazing, watch the beautiful sunset and so much more. Definitely worth the cost!

Best thing to do on a Wednesday night

Fabulous dinner at the ranch. The food was terrific. The view and sunset were spectacular. The entertainment was wonderful. A nice surprise was the star gazing. We saw Saturn and 2 of its moons as well as Jupiter and 3 of its moons. It's well worth the trip.

What a wonderful experience

I live on the island, and had heard such wonderful things about this Paniolo Sunset BBQ. My folks came to visit and I thought it was the perfect opportunity to try it out. Boy, did it not disappoint! The food was amazing. Ted and his crew really know what they are doing. Way better than I even thought it would be. They also had games, music, smores, and a souvenir for us to take home. The sunset was also one of the more spectacular ones I had seen in a while. Just perfect. Do yourself a favor, whether you live on the island, or are just here for a few days...go!

Better option than "just another luau"

We decided to try the Paniolo BBQ Dinner at Kahua Ranch instead of a luau this year and so glad we did. The food was great - as much as you can eat. The views were wonderful. They had games like horseshoes to play while you wandered around enjoying the property. We learned how to lasso - my husband was much better than me. We learned about the history of the Hawaiian cowboys which was very interesting. It was a great night. It is much cheaper than a luau and if you've been to several this is a great option. When we come back to the Big Island, we'll be back to the ranch.

Highly recommend this activity

Gorgeous views, totally worth the drive. Lots of activities to keep young and old engaged. Best part for us was Dave the host. He gave us a very entertaining short history of the Paniolos (Hawaiian cowboys). Later, he played guitar and sang country tunes. Dave is quite talented. The food was delicious and plentiful!

The food was excellent

One of the best meals we've had on this island and entertainment was fun !! The bartender Ty was absolutely on top of it and the little gift shop has everything you would want to take home as they're very particular on what they carry and they only carry the best Items !! The woman Coot, inside the little shop was so sweet and kind, and I can't say enough things about how special this place is ... the "talk story" sitting around the campfire was very informative. This is a must see when you're visiting the Big Island.!!!... bring a jacket as it gets chilly but it's a nice break from the heat and the sun and beach !!and you can only go to so many luau's!!!
